Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a number of weapons and illicit drugs after executing a search warrant at the Nugget Motel in Fort Frances on Monday night.
Members of the OPP in the Rainy River District located and seized a prohibited Taurus TCP .380 calibre handgun, along with other prohibited weapons including a butterfly knife, throwing star, and brass knuckles, police said in a news release on Tuesday.
According to police, a quantity of drugs, including fentanyl and heroin, and Canadian currency were also located during the search.
As a result of the investigation, police have arrested and charged a 41-year-old Fort Frances man with numerous weapon and drug trafficking offences, and failure to comply with a release order.
Police said the 41-year-old faces other charges relating to possession of firearms and drug trafficking within the Rainy River District from an investigation completed in 2017. The charges from that investigation are still before the courts.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact the OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
